Evan Matthew Cecil began his journey in the film and television business with a hunt for a college internship, which landed him a position in the Production Department on the 20th Century Fox film NINE MONTHS. The next eight years saw Evan take on a variety of film and television jobs, where he assumed a wide range of roles spanning numerous departments: Production, Art, Wardrobe, AD, and even Accounting. He was also lucky enough to work with many Academy Award-winners, supporting them in their various crafts. Evan’s path eventually took him to Lucasfilm and a job at Industrial Light and Magic. There he worked on Steven Spielberg’s AI, as well as STAR WARS: EPISODE II. From there he moved to Skywalker Sound, where he spent the next 5 years working in the VP / GM’s office.
Eager to get back on set and into a creative role, Evan left his job at Lucasfilm and became a Producer at the television production company Indigo Films, which allowed him creative input and a direct role in the physical production process.
Because of his strong background in live-action production and his talents as a storyteller, Evan was quickly promoted to series director. In this position he leads a team of 30 professionals, as they shoot hour-long television dramas and comedies, week in and week out, under incredibly demanding schedules and budgets. Evan’s first series, I (ALMOST) GOT AWAY WITH IT, quickly became the highest rated show on the INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY network, and has recently been renewed for its 7th season. The show was so successful that the network selected it for their first 3D network, and Evan became one of the the first directors to work in 3D for the INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY network.
Evan has directed over 50 episodes for more than 10 different series, always delivering spectacular, entertaining programming on time and on budget. His current series, WIVES WITH KNIVES, has now become the top ranking show on the network. Evan’s work on these series has allowed him tremendous and varied experience directing both professional and non-professional actors, including deaf cast members on a 2012 episode for WIVES WITH KNIVES and the upcoming series CAMPUS NIGHTMARES for A&E BIOGRAPHY network.
Evan has found his place designing the scene, directing actors, and communicating with his camera and production crew to produce innovative, creative, and successful projects.
